Uhlenberg Haulage was founded in 1966 by Mike and Carol Uhlenberg.

Work in the early days consisted mainly of carting metal for Ministry of Works roading projects in North Taranaki.

A move to Eltham in 1971, where the business is still based today, saw Uhlenbergs diversify into cartage of logs, metal, fertiliser and other commodities required by the rural community.

LPG was first carried from the Kapuni field in 1972. Today, LPG bulk products are distributed throughout the North Island, with tankers based at Eltham, Hamilton and Auckland depots.

The 1990s saw further diversification into refrigerated products. In the mid-2000s, Uhlenbergs returned to container haulage in both local and line haul operations. Local cartage also includes metal, fertiliser, palm kernel, general freight and heavy machine shifts.

The company is 100% locally owned and operated by second-generation brothers Chris, Daryl and Tony Uhlenberg.
